Assessment

Assessment is a way of discussing and gathering information from different sources in order to develop a better understanding of what students can do with their knowledge as a result of their learning experiences.

I think that classroom assessment could be both: a set of techniques  and a teaching approach, in which the primary goal for a teacher is to better understand his/her students' learning and so to improve his/her teaching.

Tests and other forms of student assessment differs from classroom assessment  in that it is aimed at course improvement, rather than at assigning only grades.

The teaching approach is that the more the teachers know about how and what students are learning, the better they can plan and organize learning tasks or activities to structure their teaching. Assuming that, the classroom assessment is a set of techniques in which the teachers provide short-term feedback, useful information, help to foster good rapport, etc. This techniques are generally non-graded, simple and in-class activities that give both teachers and their students useful feedback on the process of teaching and learning.

Well, once again, I think this is all I have to say about the subject.
